CAST Currents - October 2026

Notes from our Board
“Sustainability, resilience, circularity, and regeneration are increasingly becoming part of the Caribbean tourism industry's vocabulary - and more importantly, its operational practices."
Recognizing the vulnerabilities and opportunities facing the tourism industry from climate change and wasteful practices, a growing number of Caribbean hotels and tourism stakeholders are learning and adapting.
These shifts, which stand on their own merit, are prompting the adoption of new marketing and public relations strategies aimed at appealing to a growing segment of responsible travelers — travelers who are mindful of minimizing their footprint on the destinations they visit, and who are looking to learn from new experiences, even contributing to making those destinations better.
In this issue of CAST Currents we highlight several recent and planned activities by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and CAST aimed at embracing sustainable, resilient, circular and regenerative practices.
CAST's work is made possible thanks to the commitments and leadership of volunteer Trustees, CHTA, partner organizations, and donor agencies, including the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund and The Nature Conservancy. Sustaining and expanding upon those commitments is tied directly to the continued support of the industry.
